In the summer of 1990 the Tartan Army had their ups and downs, but they took it with extraordinary dignity and not a small amount of vino, painting Genoa and Turin blue and white and putting in solid performances against Sweden and Brazil.
Scotland were based in Rapallo — a beautiful small resort town on the Ligurian Riviera, 30km east of Genoa on the coast. Their matches were split between the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa and the Stadio delle Alpi in Turin. Genoa in particular took the Scottish supporters to heart, and the relationship between the Tartan Army and the locals during those weeks remains one of the warmest stories of the tournament.

The Three Lions enjoyed an Italian summer tour in 1990. They visited the likes of Naples, Turin and Bologna in the latter rounds, but spent the group stage beside the pool in Sardinia. It sounds perfect to us. ☀️
