Filippo Inzaghi’s return to Pisa on Wednesday night headlines the latest triple-header of Serie B fixtures live on Destination Calcio TV.
The former AC Milan and Juventus striker led the Nerazzurri to Serie A in 2025 and is now trying to do the same with Palermo, who arrive in Tuscany for the first midweek round of the season top the league with a five-point gap over Mantova.
The DCTV cameras will also be in Ascoli on Tuesday night as the hosts welcome struggling Sampdoria looking for back-to-back wins after steamrolling Catanzaro on Saturday.
On Wednesday night, it’s down to Campania, where Juve Stabia look to continue their renaissance when they host Verona at the Stadio Romeo Menti.
Here’s what to expect from the eighth round of the season (kick-off times UK).
Ascoli vs Sampdoria (Tuesday, October 27 – 7:30pm)
Having dispatched bottom of the table Catanzaro 6-1 on Saturday, Ascoli return home to face 19th-placed Sampdoria on Tuesday as they look to make it two wins on the bounce.
Dismal as the Calabrians were at the weekend, take nothing away from Francesco Tomei’s side, who have been one of the surprise packages of the season. Fourth on the table, two points away from second place, Ascoli have far exceeded expectations in their first season back in Serie B and have the chance to keep up the momentum over the next two fixtures before league leaders Palermo arrive at the Stadio Del Duca on November 6.
Unlike Ascoli, it’s been a while since Sampdoria have exceeded expectations. The Blucerchiati remain second-bottom, just one point clear of Catanzaro after drawing 1-1 away against Sudtirol on Saturday.
Luca D’Angelo’s managerial debut nearly got off to the perfect start as Yari Verschaeren fired them in front away against Sudtirol, only for Salvatore Molina to score a 96th minute penalty to rescue a point for the hosts.
Pisa vs Palermo (Wednesday, October 28 – 6pm)
Filippo Inzaghi returns to Pisa on Wednesday for the first time since leading the Tuscans back to Serie A for the first time in 34 years two seasons ago as league leaders Palermo arrive in Tuscany looking to keep the foot on the gas in their promotion push
The Rosanero left it late against Carrarese, needing a Dominic Vavassori goal 10 minutes from time to make it four wins on the bounce and match their best winning run since 2014. Five points clear of second-placed Mantova, the Sicilians are finally living up to their tag of perennial promotion favourites as they look to return to Serie A for the first time in a decade.
Eight points behind Palermo in sixth place, Pisa remain by far the best performer of the three teams that were relegated from the top-flight last season, but their two-game winning run came to an end with a draw in Verona at the weekend, as they rescued a point courtesy of Tommaso Marras’ late equaliser.
Palermo are the only team still unbeaten in Serie B, can the Nerazzurri spoil Inzaghi’s return?

Juve Stabia vs Verona (Wednesday, October 28 – 7pm)
Just as Juve Stabia’s season appeared to be drifting in the wrong direction, the Wasps have found two consecutive wins to breathe new life into their campaign.
Having thrashed Sudtirol 3-0 last week, the Stabians followed it up with a 1-0 win away in Cremona on Saturday, Marco Bellich’s goal halfway through the first half proving the difference.
A third consecutive play-offs appearance may be beyond Juve Stabia’s reach, even though the top eight remains just three points away. Equally, the Stabians are only two points above the relegation zone and defeat against Verona could plunge them right back into trouble.
Not that the Gialloblu look likely to win in Campania on Wednesday, as they arrive at the Stadio Romeo Menti on the back of another frustrating result. One goal up against Pisa through Edoardo Iannoni’s opener, they conceded a late equaliser to remain marooned in 11th place.
The play-offs spots are only two points away, but Verona have won just once in the last five matches and look a pale imitation of the promotion favourites they were billed as at the beginning of the season.
