Italian Derby Guide: How to Get to the Biggest Games in Serie A and Serie B
By Emmet Gates
Whether it’s city bragging rights or regional pride at stake, there are derby days all over Italy.
From the Milan powerhouses going head to head in their shared home, Roma and Lazio battling it out at their own Stadio Olimpico, or two southern teams clashing in a fixture named after alcoholic drinks, there is something for everyone.
This guide has eight derbies taking place this season – four in Serie A and four in Serie B – with all the key information.
*Kick-off times in both divisions are confirmed until mid January.
Derby della Madonnina
AC Milan vs Inter Milan – October 31 (8:45pm)
Inter Milan vs AC Milan – Weekend of February 13
The biggest game in the Italian football. Millions around the world tune in to watch this one and it sits high on the bucket list for most calcio tourists.
Tickets are, obviously, much more in demand for this one than for the likes of Milan against Lecce, or Inter taking on Sassuolo. But it is still possible to get them, whether you want to roar on AC Milan or Inter.
If getting close to the action in the stands is important, remember that the Inter ultras take the Curva Nord and Milan occupy the Curva Sud.
The cheapest tickets are in the third tier, but if you go there it is better to avoid the first few rows or you will end up watching through the safety screen.

Register your details on both club websites and set up an alert for when tickets go on sale (it’s too late for the first one of 2026-27).
There are plenty of flights from the UK all year round, with Milan Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo the three options.
Derby delle Mole
Juventus vs Torino – January 6 (12:30pm)
Torino vs Juventus – Weekend of April 3
The Turin derby has become one of the most one-sided in Italy over recent times – Torino have won it just once since securing an unlikely double over The Old Lady in the 1994-95 season.
Apart from the victories, Juventus can also boast having the shinier, more modern stadium. But for this rivalry, we would recommend getting to the Olympic Grande Torino Stadium. When Torino are the home side, the atmosphere is more feverish and the area around the ground feels more authentic.
However, if you are determined to catch this one at the Allianz Stadium, the Juventus Hotel right next to it does stay and ticket packages.
Turin’s Caselle Airport is well connected to the UK.
Derby della Capitale
Lazio vs Roma – December 13 (12:30pm)
Roma vs Lazio – Weekend of April 17
The Rome derby rarely fails to live up to the hype. Always mixed with moments of brilliance, moments of madness and the occasional dust-up, the Derby della Capitale has it all.
If we had to choose one, we would lean towards Roma’s home game, but the reverse fixture, from our experience, is just as good. In fact, the Lazio fans boycotting their other games will be back for this one so expect them to be making up for lost time.

Roma and Lazio, like Juventus, and both Milan clubs, use P1Travel to sell tickets to international fans, so they are worth looking at. But tickets from there will cost more.
Rome is well connected to the UK but the April game might be easier as the flight schedule is trimmed a bit in winter.
Derby dell’Emilia
Parma vs Bologna – November 7 (6pm)
Bologna vs Parma – Weekend of May 29
One of the lesser-known rivalries in Serie A, the Emilian derby is still a spicy affair between the two biggest sides in the region.
For the Parma home game, you will have to act quickly as it takes place in early November, while the return fixture is scheduled for the final weekend of the Serie A season at the Stadio Dall’Ara.
Whether it’s the Tardini or the Dall’Ara, flying to Bologna is the easiest way to get there. A train to Parma takes less than an hour.
Derby del Veneto – March 20
Verona 2-1 Vicenza – September 20
Vicenza vs Verona – Weekend of March 20
In Serie B, the biggest derby of the season is between Venetian rivals Hellas Verona and Vicenza.
After a defeat at the Bentegodi in September, Vicenza will be out for revenge in the spring. It makes for an exciting clash but with the Romeo Menti holding 12,000, getting tickets will be harder.
Harder, but not impossible. Check out our guide to buying Vicenza tickets, or start planning for next season at the Bentegodi (as long as they stay in the same division).
Your best way to get to Vicenza is by flying into Verona and driving or taking a train.
Derby dei Liquori
Benevento vs Avellino – November 7 (7:30pm)
Avellino vs Benevento – Weekend of March 20
The Liqueur Derby is played sporadically but sizzles when it happens. Benevento and Avellino last met in Serie C three seasons ago and any neutral heading to this one will be hoping they make up for lost time.
After all, it would be a shame to make the trek for a goalless draw. Of all the derbies on the list, it is probably the trickiest to get to. Flying into Naples is the best option, then taking a train or driving for around an hour.
The November fixture at Benevento will be slightly easier to get tickets for, given the stadium capacity and average attendance, but it will still be in demand.
Derby Toscano – January 23
Empoli 0-1 Arezzo – September 11
Arezzo vs Empoli – Weekend of January 23
There are several teams from Tuscany in Serie B this season, but the only true derby is the one between Arezzo and Empoli, which is known as the Derby Toscano.
This is more about regional bragging rights than any real hatred and Arezzo are one up after winning at the Stadio Carlo Castellani in September.
All the information on buying Arezzo tickets is in our guide and the Playbook has everything else, including where to stay, eat and drink. As for getting there, the city is half an hour on the train from Florence.
Derby Ligure
Sampdoria vs Virtus Entella – October 31 (7:30pm)
Virtus Entella vs Sampdoria – Weekend of January 23
Much like Arezzo vs Empoli is a derby based on pride, Sampdoria vs Virtus Entella is the Ligurian equivalent.
Samp’s main rivalry is with Genoa, of course, but with the Blucerchiati looking closer to Serie C than Serie A these days, two games against Entella, the third side in the region, will have to do.
The Marassi would be the one for first-time visitors but with that game on Halloween, time is a bit tight. The return fixture at the much smaller Stadio Enrico Sannazzari promises to be an electric affair, and well worth making the trek for. A visit from Samp or Genoa is about the only time it sells out so get organised early when buying tickets.
After arriving into Genoa, the town of Chivari, where Entella play, can be reached in just over 30 minutes by train.
