Serie B LIVE and FREE… How to Watch Matchday 11

By Dan Cancian

League leaders Palermo headline the latest triple-header of Serie B fixtures live on Destination Calcio TV, when they travel to face third-placed Ascoli on Friday night.

The DCTV cameras will also be in Mantova on Saturday where the home side welcome in-form Verona, before Sampdoria travel to Tuscany on Sunday to take on fellow strugglers Carrarese.

Here’s what to expect from the 11th round of the season (kick-off times UK).

Ascoli vs Palermo (Friday, November 6 – 7:30pm)

What happens when the surprise package of the campaign meets the pre-season promotion favourites? We’re about to find out as Ascoli welcome Palermo to the Stadio Del Duca for the game of the weekend.

Il Picchio have punched above their weight on their return to the second tier and head into this fixture two places and seven points behind their opponents. They have lost just once this season and are unbeaten in their last six, although they failed to make it three wins on the bounce when they were held to a goalless draw in Arezzo last weekend.

Palermo, meanwhile, got back to winning ways after a thrilling 3-3 draw in Pisa by beating Vicenza 3-1, courtesy of a goal from Dennis Johnsen and a brace from Dominic Vavassori.

The Sicilians are the only team still unbeaten in Serie B, but that record could be tested in the Marche. The best defensive record in Serie B meets the most prolific attack in the division. Something has to give.

Mantova vs Hellas Verona  (Saturday, November 7 – 4:15pm)

Two weeks is a long time in football – just ask Mantova and Verona. In mid-October, the Virgilians looked like Palermo’s most credible challengers, while the Gialloblu struggled for consistency amid a worrying lack of identity.

By Halloween, only three points separate them as fourth-placed Mantova have lost two of their last four matches, while two consecutive wins in a four-game unbeaten run have lifted Verona up to fifth.

Only Cesena’s Cristian Shpendi has scored more league goals this season than Daniel Mosquera, who netted his seventh of the campaign in Verona’s 3-0 thumping of Carrarese last weekend, while Mantova rescued a point at Modena courtesy of a late goal from Matteo Spinacce.

This should be an entertaining affair.

Carrarese vs Sampdoria  (Sunday, November 8 – 4:15pm)

Carrarese’s drubbing in Verona was the Tuscans’ second defeat in their last three outings and dragged them back into the relegation scrap, which looks to be even harder to escape than usual this season.

Carrarese are just one point clear of the play-out places and would be leapfrogged by Sampdoria were they to lose this one. Admittedly, that is unlikely as the Blucerchiati have not strung two wins together in almost seven months and remain 19th in Serie B, just two points off the bottom.

All the same, there was some much-needed positive news for Luca D’Angelo at the weekend, who won his first game since replacing Bernardo Corradi in charge as Sampdoria beat Virtus Entella 2-0 at home.

Samp desperately need a consistent run of form and beating a direct relegation rival would be a good place to start.
