Serie B LIVE and FREE… How to Watch Matchday 10

By Dan Cancian

League leaders Palermo headline the latest triple-header of Serie B fixtures live on Destination Calcio TV.

Fresh from a thrilling 3-3 draw away at Pisa, the Rosanero host Vicenza on Sunday night looking to maintain their four-point lead over Modena at the top of the table as they continue their quest to return to Serie A for the first time in a decade.

The DCTV cameras will also be in Cremona on Saturday where Cremonese hope to build on their surprising win against Mantova when they host surprise package Benevento in the early kick-off. Then it’s down to Genoa, where struggling Sampdoria welcome Virtus Entella for the first instalment of the Ligurian derby this season as they look to get off the canvas after three defeats in the past four outings.

Here’s what to expect from the tenth round of the season (kick-off times UK).

Sampdoria Guide Small

Cremonese vs Benevento (Saturday, October 31 – 2pm)

Without a win since the beginning of September and hovering dangerously above the relegation zone, a trip to promotion-chasing Mantova hardly seemed what Cremonese needed.

But goals from Federico Bonazzoli and Marco Nasti secured a win that was as deserved as it was unexpected and delivered some much-needed good news for Fabio Pecchia, who has struggled to turn the Grigiorossi around after replacing Marco Giampaolo in charge last month.

Cremonese remain just one point above the relegation zone and the challenge for them is to find some consistency now, starting with the visit of Benevento on Saturday.

On a five-game unbeaten run, the newly-promoted Stregoni have no such issues as they arrive into the weekend fifth in the table, four points behind the second automatic promotion spot.

At the same time, the picture could have been rosier still had they not conceded a 92nd minute equaliser to bottom of the table Catanzaro on Tuesday night.

Sampdoria vs Virtus Entella (Saturday, October 31 – 6:30pm)

Almost exactly a year ago, defeat against Virtus Entella cost Massimo Donati his job as Sampdoria manager. The Blucerchiati are ahead of that particular curve this season, with Luca D’Angelo having replaced Bernardo Corradi in charge two weeks ago, but they continue to circle the drain.

Denied a win in D’Angelo’s first game by Sudtirol’s 96th minute equaliser at the weekend, Sampdoria lost 2-0 away to high-flying Ascoli on Tuesday and remain 19th in Serie B, just a point above bottom of the table Catanzaro.

Sampdoria have picked up one point in their last four fixtures, relegation form by all metrics, yet support at Marassi remains unwavering with the club averaging 24,500 through the turnstiles. They will all be needed as Entella make the short trip to Genoa for the Ligurian derby on Saturday night for what is only their second ever visit at the famous old ground.

Twelfth in the table but just two points ahead of the relegation zone, Entella had to settle for a draw against Avellino on Tuesday as they conceded a 94th minute equaliser and are looking for some consistency after a win away against Padova was followed by defeat at home to Mantova.

Palermo vs Vicenza (Sunday, November 1 – 6:30pm)

Depending one’s take on it, Palermo’s 3-3 draw against Pisa was either a case of two points dropped or one point gained. Trailing by two goals at the break, the Serie B leaders scored three times in the space of 16 second half minutes to take the lead, only to concede an equaliser 10 minutes from time.

The result leaves them still top of the table, four points clear of Modena and five ahead of Ascoli and while Filippo Inzaghi will no doubt be annoyed by the late goal, his return to Pisa for the first time since leading the Nerazzurri back to Serie A two seasons ago could have been far less memorable.

Their four-game winning run now halted, the Rosanero welcome Vicenza on Sunday night knowing they cannot afford another misstep as they then travel to Ascoli next week.

The Biancorossi, meanwhile, arrive in Sicily in a difficult moment after conceding an 89th minute winner in a 2-1 defeat against second-placed Modena on Tuesday, which left them 16th and just a point above the relegation zone.

Three defeats in the last five does not bode well for Vicenza and neither does their inability to keep a clean sheet as only Arezzo, Sampdoria and Catanzaro have conceded more goals. If they are to avoid a swift return to Serie B, the Biancorossi must improve quickly.
