Calcio Getaway… How to Watch Venezia in One of Italy’s Greatest Settings

The 2025-26 season is just about done and dusted but there is still time for a late trip to one of the best destinations in Italian football.

Venezia are on the brink of a return to the top flight as they hold on to pole position in Serie B with just four games left to play. Two of those matches will be at home and while the final-day showdown with Palermo on May 8 is likely to be the hottest ticket in town, the visit of Empoli a fortnight earlier could be just as entertaining.

The Venetians have scored 15 goals in their last five home matches while Empoli are fighting to pull themselves clear of trouble at the opposite end of the table.

This one kicks off at 5:15pm on Saturday April 25, so there is time to fly out on the morning of the game, see the sights, grab a beer and a bite to eat, and enjoy everything a day at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo has to offer. And depending where you fly from there is opportunity to see a bit more of Venice on the Sunday before heading home.

Tickets will be available in the week leading up to the game and all the information you need can be found on our Venezia club page. We also have tips on how to get the best out of your trip, including where to stay and where to eat and drink. Try cicchetti – Venice’s answer to tapas – and soak up the pre-match atmosphere at Vincent Bar.

Getting There

Skyscanner is showing a flight from London Stansted on the Saturday at 9:15am, arriving in Venice at 12:20pm, and a return at 6:55pm on the Sunday to Luton, landing at 8.10pm. That trip starts at £108.

For flights from Manchester, Verona is the best bet heading out at 8:05am on the Saturday morning and back at 11:20am on the Sunday. That trip starts at £64 while a return train ticket from Verona Airport to Venice comes in at around £32. The train journey involves changing at Verona and takes an hour and a half.

If there are no suitable direct flights from where you are in the UK, Venice is easily accessible from most of the main European hubs such as Amsterdam and Frankfurt.
