Serie B LIVE and FREE… How to Watch Matchday 5

The biggest derby in Veneto headlines the latest triple-header of Serie B fixtures live on Destination Calcio TV.

In one of the most anticipated games of the season, Verona will host Vicenza at the Stadio Bentegodi in the first meeting between the sides in a decade on Sunday afternoon.

The DCTV cameras will also be in Palermo and Genoa on Saturday. The Rosanero, joint leaders after four games, will look to continue their unbeaten start against Padova, while the Blucerchiati desperately need points when they host Catanzaro.

DCTV will broadcast three matches, live and free, during every round of fixtures.

Here’s what to expect from the fifth weekend of the season (all kick-off times BST).

Palermo vs Padova (Saturday, September 19 – 2pm)

Palermo’s winning start to the campaign came to an end at Avellino last weekend, with Dennis Johnsen rescuing a point just minutes after Walid Cheddira had fired the hosts in front.

With co-leaders Mantova not playing until Sunday, Filippo Inzaghi’s men have the chance to put pressure on their rivals.

Daunting as the prospect of facing Palermo is, Padova will arrive in Sicily full of confidence after beating Ascoli 1-0 last time out courtesy of Nicolas Galazzi’s goal.

With seven points after four games, the Biancoscudati are seventh in the table, one point behind third-placed Sudtirol. If there is a concern, it is that Padova have scored just four goals this season. Only one team outside the relegation zone – Empoli – have scored fewer.

Sampdoria vs Catanzaro (Saturday, September 19 – 4:15pm)

Four games in and Sampdoria’s season has already drifted into the familiar waters of the relegation zone. After drawing their opening game at Cesena, they have lost three on the bounce and are bottom of the table.

Only Carrarese have scored fewer goals than Samp, and only Arezzo have let in more than their eight. As has been the case for the past two seasons, the Blucerchiati are their own worst enemy at times, as evidenced by Tobias Lauritsen’s missed penalty in the 2-0 defeat at Mantova last weekend.

Bernardo Corradi is their sixth permanent manager in the past two years, but time is already running out.

Catanzaro, meanwhile, will be hoping a corner has been turned. They were one goal away from winning promotion to Serie A back in May, but lost their first three games of the new season.

In a time of need, they once again turned to their captain Pietro Iemmello, who rifled home a late winner against Carrarese to lift his side off the bottom of the table. Another win before the international break would improve the mood even further.

Hellas Verona vs Vicenza (Sunday, September 20 – 2pm)

This derby feels like a crucial juncture in Verona’s season. One of the promotion favourites, they have not lived up to the tag, struggling with the rigours of Serie B after being relegated last season.

Four points from their opening four games is a meagre return, particularly as three of those fixtures were against newly promoted sides, most recently Benevento. Marco Baroni, who returned to Verona in the summer for a second spell, was left furious by the manner of the defeats and singled out some of his players for letting the team down.

It’s hardly an ideal environment leading up to the biggest game of the campaign in front of a packed Bentegodi, where fans are already losing patience with Baroni and the team.

A point and a place above the Gialloblu in the table, only a late penalty denied Vicenza all three points against Juve Stabia last weekend. The Biancorossi have made a steady enough start to their first campaign back in Serie B in four seasons and will travel knowing they can pile even more misery on their arch-rivals.
