Palermo Braced for Battle with Table-Topping Modena – LIVE on DCTV

There is no doubt about the main attraction in Serie B this weekend but Pietro Ceccaroni insists Palermo’s top-of-the-table clash with Modena is just another game.

The defender returns from suspension for second-placed Palermo as they welcome the league leaders to the Renzo Barbera, where the only two unbeaten records in the second tier will be put on the line.

The mouthwatering encounter also pits the league’s best defences against each other with both teams having conceded just three goals in seven matches.

“It’s a very important match but we’re only just getting started,” Ceccaroni said, as reported by Giornale di Sicilia. “We’ll have to approach it with the right spirit. We know it’ll be a sellout, and as always, we’ll have to give it our all for our fans. But it’s a game like any other, worth three points and the goal is to get the result.”

History favours the hosts in this one. Modena have not won a league game at Palermo in 55 years while Rosanero boss Filippo Inzaghi comes out on top in head-to-heads against his opposite number Andrea Sottil, his team-mate at Atalanta in the mid-1990s.

The Sicilians also took four points from the two league matches between the teams last term, following up a 2-2 draw in Modena last October with a 2-0 home victory in January.

It is Palermo who remain favourites for promotion to the top flight, where they have not played since 2017, but Modena are next in line with most bookmakers and have started the season with five wins and two draws.
