Campobasso’s historic centre is compact, making it an easy city to navigate on foot. Staying centrally ensures you are close to the main piazzas, restaurants and transport connections to the Stadio Antonio Molinari. Hotel San Giorgio is within easy reach of the city centre, about a 10-minute walk, and this four-star hotel is the preferred base for Campobasso FC players before home matches. Da Mario: Serving traditional Molisan home cooking for over four decades, this locally loved restaurant is in the middle of the historic centre. There is no menu; the daily dishes are read out to you by the owner, Mario. Expect homemade pasta such as hand-rolled cavatelli, slow-simmered pancotto (a comforting traditional bread-and-vegetable dish), and rustic wood-grilled meats served alongside locally sourced cheeses and cured salumi. The authentic experience is as good as the food.

Mamma Mia: A tiny, incredibly intimate trattoria on Via Marconi, the interiors feature vintage decor and a small daily menu that changes based on what is freshest at the morning market. The dishes resemble nonna’s home cooking, featuring simple daily selections of handmade pasta, slow-cooked ragùs, and seasonal Molisan comfort food where every plate is explained by the owner as it arrives at the table.

Getting There

By train: Campobasso Station connects the city with regional hubs such as Naples and Rome.

To the stadium: The Stadio Antonio Molinari is in the Selvapiana district on the western edge of the city. It can be reached by bus or a short taxi ride from the city centre. There is also ample parking if you want to drive.
