9Hotel Cesari: The Central Roman Base with a Rooftop to Remember
Set just off Via del Corso on the quietly historic Via di Pietra, you could easily miss the entrance of 9Hotel Cesari, let alone know that it boasts one of the most beautiful rooftops in Rome.
Smack bang in the middle of the action, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Vittoriano and Colosseum are all within easy walking distance, making it the perfect place to let the city unfold before you without the need to map out directions.
Opening its doors in 1787, making it the oldest hotel in Rome, 9Hotel Cesari’s 52 rooms have been recently renovated, becoming a relaxing modern sanctuary in a city that hardly sleeps.

A four-star boutique hotel, it’s perfect for travellers who want comfort and style without too much fuss – just a calm place to reset between sightseeing, long lunches, and late evenings.
Rome is a city best experienced on foot, and 9Hotel Cesari’s location allows you to make the most of the day without needing to walk too far. Despite being surrounded by the main attractions, the street itself stays relatively low-key. You are close to the action, but not swallowed by it, which makes coming back at the end of the day feel genuinely restful.

Rooftop Views
The true magic of this hotel is hidden on the sixth floor.
La Terrazza del Cesari, the exclusive rooftop bar and terrace, has two stunning views to choose from. One side overlooks the bustling Piazza di Pietra, and the upper terrace is where you can admire the facade of the Church of St Ignatius of Loyola and the surrounding rooftops. It’s not the showiest skyline in Rome; other rooftop bars boast views of the major landmarks, but this hidden oasis offers a view that most tourists don’t see.
This is the perfect place for an early evening drink rather than a late-night scene. We recommend heading up to watch the sunset. In summer, the sky turns purple and pink before the darkness creeps in and the stars are visible – it’s a truly magical experience.
Open seven days a week from midday until midnight, the rooftop bar is one of the best known in the city and gets very busy. The hotel will prioritise guests, but we suggest booking a table in the morning to avoid disappointment. Breakfast is also served on the terrace for hotel guests only.

Catch A Game
If watching Roma or Lazio play (or both if you catch a derby), Stadio Olimpico is 6.5km northeast of the hotel. A 90-minute walk takes you past Villa Borghese and then up along the River Tiber. A taxi takes just under 30 minutes, depending on traffic, and public transport offers a cheaper alternative via bus routes.
How To Book
For the best rate, book directly with the hotel via their website.
