The Serie C Jersey On Every Football Fashionistas’ Christmas List
Published on: December 19, 2024
Through the years Italian football has done more than most countries to deliver some of the world’s most sought-after strips.
Teams across Serie A have produced iconic shirts decade after decade, whether it be Juventus and their timeless black and white stripes, Napoli’s jerseys that evoke memories of Maradona, or Fiorentina and their sponsorship link up with Nintendo.
Christmas provides football shirt collectors with the perfect excuse to update their wardrobe and once again Italian style tops the list. Only this year, it comes from a highly unlikely source.
Triestina may be troubling the foot of Serie C Group A but their low position in the table belies their standing in high fashion.
Both the club’s home and away shirts are beautiful in their simplicity and have been picked up by trendsetters this season as a look to rival the most fashionable of Italy’s teams.
The shirts, which bear no sponsor, are designed by Kappa and are purely two tone, with the home shirt predominately red with white trim, and the away jersey representing the inverse of the same design.
They’ve since added a third strip in black which has received similar plaudits.
The designs led Soccer Bible to place the shirts in their “Best Kit Designs You May Have Missed” list at the beginning of the campaign, while Urban Pitch gave the away jersey top billing in their list of 2024’s best kits.
All three strips are still available on the club’s website, with the price of each set at €85.
While looking good in a style sense at least, things aren’t quite as pretty on the form front for Triestina. Former Birmingham City boss Pep Clotet was charged with reversing their fortunes after taking over in October. He swiftly found himself removed as head coach after a poor run and an incident which saw him assault one of his own players during a home defeat by Giana Erminio.
Attilo Tesser has since returned to take charge, leading the team off the foot of the table after a draw and two victories.
Triestina’s isn’t the only Italian shirt making waves this season, though, with Milan’s 125th anniversary effort earning rave reviews.
Modelled by club legend Franco Baresi upon its launch, the kit was worn by the team for their recent 0-0 draw with Genoa and is £130 from the club’s official store.
