Pisa will always be better known for its tower than its team but the Garibaldi is well worth a visit.

There is something special about watching football in the shadow of one of the world’s most famous tourist attractions, whether it is Serie A or Serie B – where Pisa have returned to after a season with the big boys.

Here’s all you need to know.

What Makes It Special?

The closeness to the Leaning Tower. You can walk it in a few minutes and the tower is visible from the stands at the Garibaldi.

The stadium holds a little over 12,000 but the ultras always generate plenty of colour, noise and passion to keep the team going throughout the 90 minutes. This is definitely a classic calcio experience.

How To Get There

Pisa is not a big, sprawling city so everything is walkable but there are other ways to get to the Garibaldi. Take bus 1+ from Stazione 1 stop at Pisa Centrale towards Park Pietrasantina, get off at the stop for the Leaning Tower and walk from there.

Neighbourhood Tips

If in Piazza dei Miracoli to take in the Leaning Tower be sure to check out the Mura di Pisa, a walk on the city walls that encircles most of the area around the tower. The sights over the city are spectacular, especially when the sun is setting.

Via San Martino has a row of bars worth checking out and for a full list of recommendations have a look at our guide to Pisa.

Need To Know

Most of Pisa’s ultras sit in the Curva Nord and make it the most boisterous area of the stadium. The Curva Sud is also home to some of the ultras but due to the state of that section of the stadium it is only half used. The Curva Sud is also divided with part of it used by visiting supporters.

The Tribuna Gradinata and the opposing Tribuna Inferiore and Superiore are more relaxed but tickets cost more along these sectors.

Tickets

Tickets for Pisa matches are easy enough to come by and are sold through the club, ticket agencies and resale platforms.
