Benevento Stadium Guide: Stadio Ciro Vigorito

Benevento’s Stadio Ciro Vigorito was first built in 1979 and is the fourth biggest stadium in Campania, after the homes of Napoli, Avellino and Salernitana.

Located in the south of the city, the Vigorito is one of the more boisterous stadiums in southern Italy, no matter the division the club find themselves in.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of your visit.

What Makes It Special?

The Vigorito benefits from not having a running track, with the stands close to the pitch. This makes the atmosphere inside the ground feel more emphatic on match days. We were there a couple of seasons ago for a Serie C match and the place was rocking.

How To Get There

You can walk south from the city centre in the direction of the ground, which takes around half an hour. From the train station it takes about 50 minutes to reach the Vigorito. The best way to get the Vigorito from the centre is by car, with the journey taking about 10 minutes. 

Neighbourhood Tips

The Vigorito is on the outskirts of town with not a lot around it, so the best advice would be to eat before making your way to the stadium. If you do want to eat closer to the ground, then make your way to Pizzeria Santa Colomba da Saverio on Via Don Luigi Sturzo.

For a pre-game coffee, Bar Sala Giochi, a no-frills establishment on Via Massimo D’Azeglio, is draped in Benevento colours. Like Bar is another option, about a 10-minute walk from the stadium.

Need To Know

Benevento’s ultras occupy the Curva Sud. Away fans are housed in the opposite end of the ground, in the Curva Nord. Top-end seats are along the Tribuna.

Tickets

Tickets are best bought online and in advance, as the club does not have a traditional ticket office at the stadium. However, you can buy tickets at an official ETES sale point in the centre of town on Via Lungocalore Manfredi di Svevia.

 Remember to bring ID when going to the stadium.
