Serie B LIVE and FREE… How to Watch Matchday 1

By Dan Cancian

The race for promotion to Serie A resumes on Friday night, when Vicenza host Catanzaro to get the ball rolling in the 2026-27 Serie B season.

Destination Calcio TV will be at the Stadio Romeo Menti for the opening fixture of the campaign and we will broadcast three matches, live and free, during every round of fixtures.

Here’s what to expect from the opening weekend.

Vicenza vs Catanzaro (Friday, August 21 – 7:30pm)

Vicenza get to kick off the season on their return to Serie B after a four-year absence in front of a packed Stadio Romeo Menti.

They cruised to the Serie C Girone A title with a 20-point gap to second-placed Union Brescia, losing just three times in 38 matches. Fabio Gallo has remained in charge and there are high hopes he can build on last season’s success to cement the Biancorossi’s place in Serie B.

Catanzaro missed out on a Serie A place in May only because they finished lower in the league than Monza, as the pair were level over two legs of the play-off final.

The Calabrians have kept talismanic striker Pietro Iemmello, who has rattled in 47 league goals in the past three seasons, but will they be able to go one better this term?

Hellas Verona vs Ascoli (Sunday, August 23 – 6pm)

Much like their arch-rivals Vicenza, Verona make their return to Serie B after a lengthy absence, albeit having travelled in the opposite direction.

Relegated alongside Pisa and Cremonese, they are among the favourites for promotion, having gone straight back up the last two times they were relegated.

A staple of Serie A in the 1980s, Ascoli will be looking to cement their place in Serie B rather than aiming for a second promotion on the bounce, after beating Union Brescia in the play-offs last term.

They have made a number of shrewd summer signings, chief among them Inter Milan starlet Giacomo De Pieri, who joined on loan.

Palermo vs Juve Stabia (Sunday, August 23 – 8pm)

In their second campaign under Filippo Inzaghi, Palermo are under huge pressure to end their hiatus from Serie A, which is entering its ninth season.

On the face of it, they have it all: star players – Gabriel Strefezza joined in the summer, bolstering an already enviable set of attacking options – a manager who has won promotion to Serie A with Benevento and Pisa, a new training ground, and one of the most passionate fanbases in Serie B, with more than 17,000 season tickets sold this summer.

Getting it all together on the pitch, however, has proved incredibly difficult with Inzaghi’s first season in charge petering out in the play-off semi-final against Catanzaro.

Juve Stabia’s bid for promotion ended at the same stage as they punched above their weight last term, but with uncertainty off the pitch, a regression may be on the cards in Pietro De Giorgio’s first season in charge.

Each match is available across 51 territories. All of DCTV’s live Serie B broadcasts are shown in the USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, the Caribbean and South America.
