For most of their life as a football club, Salernitana have lived in the shadow of Napoli.

Located in the Campania region of Italy, they have some of the most passionate fans in the country but they are yet to celebrate any major trophy wins.

The city of Salerno is one of the most beautiful in southern Italy and Italians flock to its beaches every summer.

Formed in 1919, Salernitana has only played five seasons in Serie A, and spent three consecutive seasons in the top flight from 2021-24, but suffered relegation in 2023-24 after picking up just 17 points all season.

Another relegation followed in 2025 after a play-out defeat by Sampdoria.

The Stadio Arechi is one of Italy’s more modern stadiums. Built in 1990 after the club outgrew the much smaller Stadio Vesuti, the Arechi has a reputation for being one of the most boisterous stadiums in Italy, thanks to the fanatical supporters.
