Milan in London and Roma on Merseyside – Where to Get Your Calcio Fix in the UK This Summer

Calcio fans in the UK are in for a treat this summer with a host of Serie A clubs in action against Premier League opposition as they prepare for the new campaign.

Roma have a historic clash with Everton to look forward to as part of their pre-season programme and have booked an extended stay in England, setting up camp at St George’s Park, the Football Association’s headquarters in Staffordshire, from August 2-8.

First up for the Giallorossi is a meeting with Aston Villa at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium on Wednesday August 6, before they line up at the Toffees’ new home on Saturday August 9.

That match at the Hill Dickinson Stadium will be the first with every one of the 52,769 seats available and the first for season ticket holders to sit in their chosen seats for 2025-26.

The game kicks off at 3pm with entertainment and food and drink available at The Plaza from 12pm. A Legends game then follows at 5.15pm with Roma Scudetto winners Fabio Capello and Vincent Candela, along with former Everton captain Phil Jagielka, among the first names confirmed.

Just along the M62 on the same day, Fiorentina are at Old Trafford to face Manchester United for the first time since the 1999-00 Champions League.

This time they are playing for the Snapdragon Cup in what will be United’s final friendly of the summer. The previous meeting here finished 3-1 to the hosts but is remembered for an absolute screamer of a goal from Gabriel Batistuta, who also scored in his side’s 2-0 win in Florence.

The Viola also face Championship outfit Leicester at the King Power Stadium the week before, on Sunday August 3.

AC Milan are clocking up the air miles ahead of the big kick-off at the end of August, taking on Premier League opposition in the Far East before heading to Ireland and then England.

The Rossoneri will play in Singapore for the first time, taking on Arsenal at the National Stadium on Wednesday July 23, before travelling to Hong Kong to face Liverpool at the Kai Tak Stadium three days later.

The announcement of the Liverpool game earlier this summer coincided with the launch of the AC Milan Academy in Hong Kong, while the friendly will be the first time they have played there since 2004.

From there, Max Allegri and his side head for Dublin to play Leeds at the Aviva Stadium on August 9 before a meeting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge the following day.

Elsewhere, Lazio have lined up match against Burnley at Turf Moor on August 9. It is part of a double header with the women’s teams facing off the same day.

And heading in the opposite direction, Manchester City travel to Sicily for a meeting with City Football Group stablemates Palermo on August 9 to contest the inaugural Anglo-Palermitan Trophy.
