Garlic, Masks and the Scudetto… Napoli’s New Kit Tells a Fascinating Story
By Joseph O’Sullivan for Destination Calcio
Napoli wrote an unexpected but impressive chapter into their history last season when they clinched their fourth Scudetto on the final day of the campaign.
And as they ramp up preparation for the defence of their crown, they are telling another story.
This time, it’s all about the city – and you can read it on the new kit.
Summer signing Kevin De Bruyne and title-winning hero Scott McTominay were, as expected, front and centre at the launch of the home and away strips Antonio Conte’s side will be wearing in 2025-26.
The Scudetto patch in honour of last season’s success sits proudly in the middle of the chest on both tops. Made by EA7, the theme is ‘Proud to be Napoli’.
“The details that embellish our new kits – and especially the away shirt – further strengthen the bond between club and city, interweaving the colours of Napoli with the cultural roots of Naples,” the club explained.

We’ll get to that away shirt soon. As for the home kit, there’s the sky blue shirt and socks, with white shorts and trim. There’s a bold, more traditional v-neck collar and white cuffs while the Napoli ‘N’ is woven into the fabric.
It’s a simple but powerful number, modelled by De Bruyne, from a club that generally does a fantastic job of reinventing the home kit each year without doing anything too ridiculous or anti-traditional.
The away top is certainly more daring. From a distance it appears off-white with gold trim, but look a little closer and you will see that the club has taken you on a journey through the city with this one.
The ‘sand’ jersey is ‘a homage to the city’s soul,’ according to the official release. The kit is subtly emblazoned with icons and artefacts woven into the design.

There’s a nod to all that is synonymous with Naples – from a garlic head to ward off evil spirits to San Gennaro, the patron saint of the city. You will also find the mask of Pulcinella, which is a key piece of folklore that symbolises the ability to overcome difficulties. The Sacred Heart – a sign of faith and gratitude in the region – is also there.
Also present are the magical figure of Monaciello, the Curniciello amulet to bring good luck, and the Fountain of the Artichoke to symbolise daily rebirth and resilience.
This all tells the story of Naples as a traditional city, one of romance, where people are happy to get lost in superstition.
Napoli are the champions of Italy, they have just signed De Bruyne, Conte is staying and seems content, and they have just released these wonderful rigs to wear for the new season.
Throw in the fact that the other big boys are undergoing major upheaval and this could be the perfect year to win a first ever back-to-back title. If so, they would achieve silverware with the style to match.
