Cremonese and Juve Stabia Meet in a Massive Six-Pointer Between Serie B Form Sides
By Emmet Gates
Considering they scored eight goals between them last time out, Bari vs Palermo might just be the viewers’ choice for their latest Serie B fix – but the real game of the weekend is Cremonese against Juve Stabia.
Fourth hosts fifth and both are flying.
Cremonese go into the game on the back of a hard-earned 2-1 win at Reggiana where Manuel De Luca’s volley and a Matteo Bianchetti glancing header sealed the points despite an own goal from Valentin Antov.
It was the Grigiorossi’s third win in five unbeaten games, adding to their impressive 3-2 victory at Palermo and a 4-0 home trashing of Catanzaro.
Confidence could not be higher.

However, boss Giovanni Stroppa wasn’t entirely happy with the performance against the Reggio Emilia side, saying: “We were below our usual standard, conceding a lot of possession. But we were better in the second half.”
Stroppa does not want the focus to drop as we enter the business end of the season. There is still a chance Spezia can be caught in third place, which would give an advantage going into the promotion play-offs in May and June.
Yet with the Ligurian side six points ahead and in good form of their own, Cremonese may just have to settle for fourth.
But they cannot relax as Juve Stabia sit only three points behind. And that is what makes this game all the more intriguing.
The Campania side have provided one of the stories of Serie B this season. Promoted to the second tier for the first time in a decade, they are firmly in the play-off picture and in with a realistic chance of stepping up to Serie A.
Le Vespe (The Wasps) saw off Salernitana in the Campania derby last weekend with a 1-0 victory, their third in a row, that was another dagger in the heart of the Salerno outfit, who are bottom of the table and on course for a stint in the division Juve Stabia just came out of.
In Andrea Adorante, they have one of the revelations of the campaign. At 25, the Italian striker is having his breakout season. Thirteen goals in 29 games is already one better than his previous best, in Serie C last term.

Adorante, a former Inter youth product who also played briefly for Parma, has bounced around several teams in Italy but appears to have found a home in Castellammare.
The success of Juve Stabia is also being reflected in events off the pitch. The club is about to be sold to an Ireland-based company called Brera Holdings, who are looking to expand their portfolio.
The deal is not 100% ratified but it is close to completion, with the FIGC (Italian Football Federation) satisfied with the potential new owner’s ability to successfully purchase the club.
The takeover could be very well-timed, considering Juve Stabia’s current position. They have never played in the top flight, and reaching the promised land would be a monumental achievement.
