Club football is back after the international break and we have picked four matches in April across Serie A and Serie B worth considering for a short-notice calcio weekend away.
We’ve looked at the fixtures and the flights to find the best value, and included all the information you might need between booking your trip and landing back home.
Lazio vs Parma, Sat April 4, 8:45pm (local)
The teamsheets might not be sprinkled with stardust like they were in the 1990s but there should still be enough on show at the Stadio Olimpico to make this a cracking calcio experience.
Parma have pulled clear of trouble and Lazio are shooting towards a European place heading into their late kick-off on the Saturday night of the Easter weekend.
With the first whistle blowing at 8:45pm, there’s plenty of time to get there on the day, although with it being Easter the travel costs are higher than other weekends. Ryanair flights from London Stansted to Ciampino leave at 6:50am and return at 12:40pm the following day, costing £225. Flights from Edinburgh are slightly more expensive, starting at £265, but leave at 8:55am and return at 10:30am.

Rome is never not busy and anywhere near the Vatican and other major attractions will be mobbed, but matchday is still matchday and there are plenty of places where you will find the pre-game buzz. They are listed in our Lazio playbook.
Tickets are available through Lazio’s official website starting from €26. All the information you need can be found in our article on buying tickets and our stadium guide.
Monza vs Bari, Sat April 11, 7:30pm
Top-flight football could be back at the U-Power Stadium next season but for now it’s a good place to watch Serie B.
It’s easy to get to – there are regular flights to Milan from several UK airports and from there it is less than 15 minutes on the train to this small but neatly-packaged city.
Flights from London Stansted, heading out on the Saturday morning and back on the Sunday, are between £150 and £200, depending what time you want to return (earlier departures are cheaper).

The U-Power is a tidy little stadium and was used by Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia recently when the San Siro was on Winter Olympics duty, but keep an eye on the weather forecast as it is open to the elements.
Monza went into the March international break occupying the second automatic promotion place behind league leaders Venezia and have not lost at home since September. For Bari, this is the latest round in their fight to avoid the drop.
Tickets go on sale on Monday April 6 and are available through Monza’s official website.
Inter Milan vs Cagliari, Fri April 17, 8:45pm
While there is still a bit of time to tick the San Siro off your bucket list, the clock is ticking until the bulldozers move in and the famous calcio cathedral makes way for a shiny new ground ahead of the 2032 European Championship.
A lot of football will be played before then but now is an exciting time to catch Inter as they try to get over the finish line and lay their hands on the Serie A title once again.
Tickets for this one are on sale now through the club website and are selling fast, but there are some available in various price categories, including the third tier which is the cheapest. If buying up there, the further back the better, as the first few rows leave you watching the match through a plastic screen that separates the third level from the seats below.

Our guide to buying Inter tickets has everything you need to know, including how to become a member and information on where to get tickets for the matches that sell out quickly.
Ryanair flights from London Stansted on the morning of the game and back the following day start at £104, while similar journeys from Manchester and Edinburgh are around £140.
Venezia vs Empoli, Sat April 25, 5:15pm
Another ground currently hosting Serie B football but probably not for too much longer, this one is an absolute beauty.
Not only does the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo look amazing by the lagoon, but you can get there by vaporetto (water boat), adding to the overall experience.
Tickets for the game against Empoli, one of only three home matches left of the regular season, go on sale a week before and start at €23.
Several flights from London, on the morning of the game and back the next day, costs less than £100 so this trip could be done on the cheap if booking now. The best we could find was £87 – Ryanair from Stansted at 9:15am and returning at 11:35pm, giving you most of Sunday to explore the city. Alternatively, coming back on the Sunday morning was the same price.
