There is good news and bad news for Brescia as they head into their final game of the campaign.
Their hopes of staying in Serie B remain in their own hands, as ahead of kick-off against Reggiana they sit in 15th, one place above the relegation play-out.
On the flip side, their opponents on Tuesday night are the form team in the division.
The Granata have been flying and secured their own second-tier status for another season by beating Juve Stabia on Friday night.
It was a fourth straight victory for Davide Dionigi’s side, and after seeing off Cittadella, Modena and Spezia before beating the Stabians, they have climbed from second-bottom to 12th in the table. That run has erased the memory of a recent 10-match winless streak that threatened to send them down to the third tier.
It has been a rollercoaster ride over the four games, with nine goals scored and five conceded. Three players – Cedric Gondo, Manolo Portanova and Natan Girma – scored three each and Brescia will be hoping the team from Reggio Emilia have now taken their foot of the gas.

The Rondinelle can take some encouragement from their own form. They have lost only one of their last five – 2-1 against promoted Pisa – and, along with Salernitana, have the joint-tightest defence of the teams in the bottom half (47 goals conceded).
Yet most of their good work has been done away from their own patch. They have not won at the Mario Rigamonti since beating Cremonese at the end of September and on home form alone they are 19th of the 20 teams in Serie B. On the road, they are eighth.
The dogfight at at the bottom has been keeping the neutrals interested for much of the campaign but for those involved there cannot be many nails left unbitten. Depending on results elsewhere, as many as three teams could leapfrog Brescia if they fail to take anything from the visit of Reggiana.
And Dionigi has fired a warning, saying in his press conference before the final outing of the campaign: “I want to win and improve further.”
